How do I connect my Garmin to StepsApp?
StepsApp works seamlessly with your Garmin watches and fitness trackers by syncing step data through the Apple Health app on your iPhone. As long as your device can sync steps to Apple Health, StepsApp can read and display your activity.
To view your Garmin steps in StepsApp, simply follow our instructions below.
What You Need to Do
- Connect your Garmin device to your iPhone using the official app Garmin Connect.
- Use a helper app, such as HealthFit or FitnessSyncer, to transfer your step data to Apple Health.
- Allow StepsApp to access Apple Health.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Connect Your Garmin Device to Your iPhone
- Download and open the Garmin Connect app from the App Store.
- Sign in or create an account.
- Pair your device with your iPhone using Bluetooth.
Step 2: Sync Garmin Data to Apple Health
- Open the Apple Health app.
- Select Summary (bottom left).
- Select your Profile Picture (top right).
- Select Apps under Privacy.
- Select the Connect app.
- Enable all necessary permissions to sync data to Apple Health, including Steps and other available activity metrics.
Important to Know: Once sharing is enabled, the Health app will only display previously recorded data from up to two weeks prior to the sharing being enabled — older data will not be transferred. Garmin Connect must be open in the foreground to send data to Apple Health. If closed, the transfer pauses and completes only on the next sync performed while the app is open.
Quick Tip: While the Garmin Connect app supports syncing some data to Apple Health, the coverage is limited. For a more complete and reliable sync, including all metrics, many users prefer using third-party apps like HealthFit or FitnessSyncer. These apps ensure your Garmin data is fully synced to Apple Health, allowing StepsApp to access and display it automatically.
If you would like to use a helper app, please follow the instructions below:
- Download HealthFit, FitnessSyncer, or any other helper app from the App Store.
- Open the app and sign in with your Garmin account.
- Follow the setup steps to connect the sync app with Apple Health.
- Enable all necessary permissions to sync data to Apple Health, including Steps and other available activity metrics.
Step 3: Allow StepsApp to Access Apple Health
- Open StepsApp.
- Go to Settings > Apple Health.
- Toggle on Apple Health Sync.
Once the setup is completed, StepsApp will show the steps from your Garmin watches and fitness trackers automatically.
