How do I run a successful Company Challenge?
What is a Company Challenge?
- A Company Challenge is a walking challenge for colleagues, teams, departments, or the entire organization.
- Suitable for team building, wellness initiatives, charity events, and friendly competition.
- It is Free to create and join.
How many participants can join?
- Up to 20,000 participants per challenge.
- Suitable for both small teams and large organizations.
How to set up a Challenge?
A designated Admin should first create the Challenge in the app. Simply tap the “+” button and select “Create Challenge.” During setup, the following can be configured directly in StepsApp:
- Challenge name
- Duration
- Description
- Background image
Use a Host to make your Challenge look professional.
- Add your company, department, or event organizer as a Host.
- Helps participants easily identify the official organizer.
- Can include company branding and event information.
How can employees join?
Once the challenge is created, participants can join in one of the following ways:
- Via a shared invite link
- By scanning a shared QR code
- By being added directly (if they are already connected as friends on the leaderboard)
Best practice for large Company Challenges:
- Each participant should create their own StepsApp account to join the Challenge.
- All participants should update to the latest version of StepsApp (iOS or Android) to ensure optimal performance.
- Organizers should clearly communicate the challenge type, goal, and duration before the challenge begins.
- For large challenges, consider assigning additional Admins to help manage participants and communications.
- Participants should allow up to 6 hours after the challenge ends for final results to be calculated and synchronized.
- If using wearables, participants should verify that syncing with Apple Health (iOS) or Google Fit (Android) is correctly set up before the Challenge starts.
- Organizers should decide whether the Challenge Chat is open to all participants or restricted to Admins only. For larger challenges, Admin-only chat can help keep important announcements visible and reduce message volume.
Analyze and Share Results.
Challenge Admins can export challenge data as a CSV file for further analysis. Simply open the Challenge details, tap on the More button and select CSV Export.
Exported data can be used to:
- Create custom reports, charts and presentations.
- Share results with participants and stakeholders.
- Analyze participation and engagement.
- Recognize top performers and team achievements.
- Archive challenge results for future reference.
